How to tell if your cat is sick?
When a cat is sick or suffering from a specific cat health problem, it might be hard to see it at a first glance. Here’s a list of some symptoms that may indicate your cat is suffering from ill health and should see a vet:
- Toileting outside the litter tray
- Excessive drinking
- More frequent urination
- Diarrhoea or constipation
- Changes in appetite - not eating or eating much more than normal
- Unexplained weight gain or weight loss
- Loss of coat condition, including bald patches, sore skin, dandruff or the cat is scratching
- Excessive grooming
- Not eating or eating much more than normal
- Excessive vocalisation
- Blood in urine, faeces, vomit or saliva
- Having trouble moving around or limping
- Behavioural changes
- If paws, eyes, ears or mouth look sore, swollen or are discharging
- Your cat is lethargic and less lively than normal
- Not willing to play or interact
- Cat feels excessively warm or cold
- Your cat has vomited more than once
